A Two-Year Leadership Development Program

About

The First Assembly Residency is a leadership development program is for emerging leaders who completed education for and feel called to vocational ministry. 

Designed to equip you to fulfill your calling to ministry for a lifetime, the First Assembly Residency provides meaningful ministry experience with pastoral coaching to develop you into a well-rounded minister and follower of Jesus.

You will be fully immersed in the church's day-to-day ministry, with real ministry responsibilities and expectations placed on you. Serving as a member of a department, you will attend staff meetings and carry the regular responsibilities of a pastor or leader.

Ministry Tracks

Depending on your passions, skills and experience, participate in the ministry track that will prepare you to enter the career field or place of ministry you plan to pursue.

(Works with our Follow, Connect, Groups, Discipleship departments)

You’ll experience a unique combination of coaching and real-life ministry. In spiritual formation, you’ll have opportunities across various ministry environments to add value to the local church and gain hands-on experience. You’ll lead Dream Teams, coach leaders, and develop new leaders, including coaching group leaders at various age levels and life stages. You’ll also organize events and build opportunities for spiritual growth of believers. The residency offers a diverse range of experiences and practical, hands-on coaching. 

(Works with our Impact and Missions departments)

You will have the opportunity to make a significant impact both locally and globally. Locally, you’ll collaborate with local non-profits, mobilize Dream Teamers, and lead teams to create meaningful change in our community. You’ll also work with our care ministry, helping individuals find Jesus in areas of physical or social needs. Globally, you’ll have the opportunity to co-lead mission trips and partner with our global partners to spread the message of Jesus in cross-cultural ways. 

Littles & Kids Ministry (Preschool & Elementary) 

As a kid’s ministry resident, you’ll have multiple opportunities to lead volunteers in nursery, preschool, and elementary age groups. You’ll partner with families during significant milestones in their child’s life, such as child dedications, salvation classes, small groups, and water baptism. You’ll also support elementary students in taking their next steps in serving. 

Youth Ministry 

The youth ministry track gives you the opportunity to engage in sermon series planning meetings, have multiple teaching opportunities, and learn how to recruit, train, and develop volunteer teams. You’ll also lead small groups of students, strengthening your discipleship skills along the way. 

College Campus Ministry (Chi Alpha) & Young Adult Ministry 

The College Campus/Young Adult ministry track gives you the opportunity to serve college students, young adults, and young professionals. You’ll have the opportunity to host ministry nights, lead small groups, and engage with the local church and community. Your role in the residency would include participating in discipleship conversations, baptisms, and salvations, as well as following up with and integrating young adults into the church. You’ll also lead small groups of students, strengthening your discipleship skills along the way. 

(Works with our Worship and/or Production departments)

Depending on your qualifications, you'll have the opportunity to step in as a worship leader at First Assembly. You’ll participate in service planning and the execution of weekly worship services alongside pastors and volunteers. Additionally, you’ll provide pastoral care for your Creative Arts volunteers. You’ll gain valuable experience in Sunday adult environments and weekly ministry services.

Use and develop your creative gifts and passions to tell the story of the gospel in clear, new, and compelling ways. 

(Works with our Executive Pastor and Business Office)

Sharpen your gifts of administration and execution to set the table for sustainability in the area of ministry within a church organization. Cultivate your gift and passion to bring order and integrate all ministries of the church into alignment and assist the leaders of the church to fulfill their calling. Areas to more deeply focus include facilities, project management, and strategic event planning and budgeting. You will gain skills for leadership, management, and accountability for staff and volunteers.

Residents, depending on their skills, may have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience working with our marketing, graphics, and video teams to tell the story of what God is doing in and through our church. From creating content and designing visuals to producing videos and supporting campaigns, residents will develop their creative skills while serving the church in meaningful ways. 

This track is ideal for those exploring future roles such as Communications Director, Graphic Designer, Video Content Creator or Creative Director.
